Privacy Policy

ChronoShift is built by Riso Labs LLC. We collect as little data as possible — only what's necessary to run the daily leaderboard and real-time multiplayer matches.

What we collect

  • A randomly generated player ID (a UUID) created on your device the first time you open the app or web version. We use it to attribute your scores and matches to a stable identity. It cannot be linked to you personally.
  • A display name. The default is auto-generated (e.g. Player_4729). You can change it in Settings. Display names are public on the leaderboard.
  • Daily score submissions — the date and the time it took you to solve, in milliseconds.
  • Multiplayer match results — opponent's player ID, the seed of the match puzzle, your time and theirs, and whether anyone forfeited.
  • Country code, derived from your IP address by Cloudflare on first contact. Not stored in any other form.

What we do NOT collect

  • Email addresses
  • Real names, phone numbers, or contact info
  • Device identifiers (IDFA, advertising ID, MAC, IMEI)
  • Location beyond country code
  • Behavioral analytics (we do not use Google Analytics, Segment, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or any other analytics SDK)
  • Crash reporting beyond Apple's built-in TestFlight / App Store crashes
  • Anything via third-party trackers, pixels, or cookies on the marketing site beyond strictly functional ones

Sign-in and accounts

ChronoShift v1 has no sign-in flow. There is no Sign in with Apple, no Sign in with Google, no email/password. Your identity is the random player ID stored on your device.

If you uninstall the app or clear your browser storage, your player record on the server becomes orphaned but persists with no identifying information attached. Contact info@risolabs.com if you want it deleted; we will purge the row on request.

Where data is stored

  • iOS: Keychain (the session token only) and UserDefaults (local preferences and the daily attempt streak)
  • Web: an httpOnly secure cookie (the session token only)
  • Server: a PostgreSQL database hosted on Fly.io in Newark, NJ (region ewr). Backups are taken automatically by Fly.

Children

ChronoShift is rated 4+. We don't ask for or use any age information, but the app is built to be safe for any age.

Changes

Material changes to this policy will bump the Effective date above and be summarized here.
